Since you have found your way here you must either be a die-hard fan of the Marvel Captain America comic books first written in the 1940s or you’re a huge fan of all the Marvel movies that are so popular these days. Me? I love both. I started with the comics in the late 1950s and today I love the films. Either way, I have done my best to locate high-quality Captain America costumes to wear to cosplay events, LARP and RPG events, parades, or as Halloween costumes.
Usually, when it comes to Marvel’s superhero costumes, it is easier to purchase a ready-made costume. However, for the DIY crafty person, it is never too soon to start scouting for the materials to make your own costume at home especially if you know how to sew, and you know how to work with foam and resin to create your own accessories.
Personally, I am more of a semi-homemade costumer. I will usually only buy items that look better than what I can make at home. Prior to that, I will scour thrift stores, garage sales, consignment shops, Etsy, Amazon, and eBay looking for authentic looking pieces to use for my costume.
Superhero costumes are the exception for me. They are the ones I would much rather buy than attempt to make on my own. I can sew but not well enough to take on a Captain America costume project. Whichever way you decide to go to get a Captain America costume, the main focus is to have fun above all else. Happy hunting!
Incidentally, the costumes are listed in order of the movies starting with the 1st to last. The costumes from the Avengers: Infinity War are the last costumes featured.

Captain America Costumes inspired by and replicated after the Captain America: The First Avenger film. The film takes place during World War II. Steve Rogers (played by Chris Evans) is rejected time after time when trying to enlist in the Army as a 4F. His desire is to serve as a soldier fighting against the terror of Hitler’s Nazi regime. He is rejected as a weakling with too many debilitating diseases, while his best friend Bucky Barnes is accepted.
Instead he is enlisted as a candidate of an experimental project called Project Rebirth. Strategic Scientific Reserve, head of Project Rebirth, are conducting experiments to create a “super-soldier”. Project Rebirth is under the direct supervision of Erskine, Colonel Chester Phillips, and a British Agent, Peggy Carter. It is here where Rogers is given a dose of a “super-soldier serum” which transforms him into Captain America.

Captain America is a huge fan favorite and has been for almost 50 years. He is also a fan favorite among the Avengers’ team. His costume is a form fitting jumpsuit with a white star on the top center of the chest and red and white stripes down the front. The costume is made of a stretchy spandex knit fabric and includes a the jumpsuit, a harness, a utility belt with pouches, a pair of red gloves, brown plastic boot covers, and a blue Captain America mask. His red boots and shield are not included and will need to be purchased separately. I wrecommend throwing the cheesy brown plastic boot covers in the trash and picking up a decent pair of red boots.
You’ll be the superhero in an Avengers Captain America costume wearing a pair of dashing red boots. Captain America get ready to save the day on Halloween or any day when a patriotic costume is required!
Three fabulous pairs of red faux leather boots to wear with any of the Avenger costumes when boots are not included. They are great looking boots that can be used for several different superhero costumes. One pair (above) has cuffed shafts with rubber soles and can be custom made to order. The other two pairs of red hero boots (below) have rounded toes, tall shafts, and sweeping, asymmetrical collars that will set up any superhero costume perfectly.
This First Avengers outfit is 100% leather. It is a magnificent outfit set. They can be worn as a costume or worn to ride a motorcycle. You will totally feel like Chris Evans playing a superhero riding in the wind wearing these leather tops and pants outfit.

A replicated US Army WWII officer uniform worn by many of the ranking fighting men during the 2nd World War who fought courageouly against the terror of the Hitler regime.
This is the replicated uniform of Captain Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, from the 2011 Captain America: The First Avengers movie. The costume consists of the Army uniform; jacket and pants, along with the shirt and tie featured in the photo.

Men’s WWII Combat Separates
For the semi-homemade costumer, you can create your own Steve Rogers, Captain America, WWII combat costume from the separate pieces I have selected to feature below.
Theater quality Avengers costumes must not have been made this year as I could not find any that completely meet our standards. I found only 2 close possibilities, however, additional accessories will need to be purchased to complete the costumes. The gloves and boot covers on both costumes are total crap and need to be replaced with something of a higher quality. A blue utility belt will be also be needed on the costume below left. One more thing, the sizes are limited, so be sure to compare your meaasurements prior to ordering to be sure the costume will fit you.
Adult Captain America: The Avengers Costume

Replace the boot covers included with these costumes with one of the real pair of red boots featured above. You need red boots for the boot covers with the costume on the right to work anyway, so might as well just wear the boots.
Captain America shields are not included with any of the costumes, but a shield may be purchased separately. And next we are featuring a pair of awesome red leather gaunlet gloves to replace the crap gloves incuded with the costumes.
These gaunlet gloves are the perfect replacement for the Captain America Avengers costumes featured above. They are genuine unlined red leather gloves and are sure to be exactly what you need to perfect your Avengers costume.

The Captain America: Winter Soldier film debuted in 2014. While living in our country’s capitol at DC, Steve Rogers, aka Captain America (Chris Evans) is trying to adapt to the modern world. Our superhero gets caught up in the politics of Washington which are cleverly tied into actual historical events turning this Marvel comic book into an intense action-packed spy thriller film.

The Captain America: The Winter Soldier 2014 Steve Rogers’s costume has so far been the most popular movie costume thus far. It can be tailor made to order in any size you want. It has exquisite detailed workmanship. It’s designed to exactly replicate the movie costume and is made in regular sizes rather than costume sizes. Do have someone measure you with a measuring tape for accurate sizing.
The top and the pants are made of high-quality uniform cotton twill; the belt, the harness, and the gloves are made of faux (synthetic) leather; the star on the chest and the buckles are made of silver metal.
A Captain America helmet, shield, and boots may be purchased on the site separately for extra charges. The charges depend on what you order.

This costume is tailored from a blue polyester fabric with faux leather accents. You can choose regular sizing or you can choose to have the costume custom made to your specific measurements. Include in this package is the top, pants, a utility belt, a pair of brown faux leather gloves, a mask, and black faux leather shoe covers.
I am not overly fond of vinyl boot covers. Personally, I think a pair of boots are so much more authentic looking, giving a more aesthetic appeal than the PU leather shoe covers give. Therefore, I included Winter Soldier costume boots featured directly below which can be purchased separately.
An amazing, authentic looking, well made Captain America jumpsuit costume with loads of stitching detailing. The costume set is replicated after the Winter Soldier film and looks just like the film version. A really well made deluxe Captain America costume. The costume is reenforced with faux leather and extra padding in the chest on the elbows and on the knees. The costume is super detailed with the silver star on the chest, contrasting red fabric and faux leather, and the embroidered Captain America logo patch on the left shoulder. Included with the costume are 7-pieces, the top, the trousers, a mask, a pair of gloves, a pair of boots cover, a utility belt with bags, and a double strap harness.
Everything about this costume is awesome, and I usually really hate boot covers because they just look so fake and tacky. but even the boot covers of this costume look pretty darn decent. If you prefer, you can always replace them with a pair of Ultron boots from the ones I am featuring below.

Only order the standard sizes of this costume if you are a slim fit. Larger men will not fit in the standard sizes. You may, however, have the costume custom made if you are a husky or large body type. They can also customize the costume if you can send them a photo of what you want.
Note: Whenever you custom order a costume, be sure to add 1 to 2-inches to your measurements to allow for movement. They will make the costume to the exact measurements you send and custom orders cannot be returned.

Judianna Makovsky, the costume designer for the Civil War movie won numerous awards in 2016 for her costume designs and I can see why. The Civil War costumes are the best yet.

This adult Civil War costume is completely made of faux leather and looks good enough to be the real thing. It is a deluxe set that includes almost everything you’ll need for the complete Captain America look.

Personally, do not like boot covers and thick they cheapen the authenticity of the costume. I recommend replacing the boot covers with a real pair of boots which can be purchased separately below. Captain America: Civil War

You would think that this costume and the Deluxe Civil War costume feature first are identical but they do have subtle differences. This costume is a 2-piece with a top and pants, whereas the first Civil War costume featured is a 1-piece jumpsuit.
Additionally, included with this costume is a top, a brown utility belt, brown fingerless vinyl gloves; a blue and black trim faux leather mask with a silver letter “A” on the front forehead; a pair of black shoe covers with 3 straps; and a shoulder harness.
I do not like the gloves or the boot covers. I think vinyl makes them look cheap and tacky. I would replace both. I recommend purchasing a separate pair of gloves and a pair of boots.
