Renaissance Royal and Noblemen Men’s Costumes

Adult Renaissance Costumes for Royalty and Noblemen in a Renaissance Court. Renaissance Costumes come from an era of time that spanned the 1200 – 1600. It was preceded by the Middle Ages, or Medieval Era, and followed by the Reformation Era. The Renaissance Era, began with the arts in Italy and spread all across Europe. It is an era which has been greatly romanticized by modern culture.

Who wouldn’t love wearing a Renaissance Costume and role-playing the romantic roles from tales of kingdoms gained and kingdoms lost? Of Royal Kings and Queens of Europe and the British Isles holding court? Of stories of knights slaying fearsome dragons; tales of King Arthur’s Court and the Knights of the Round Table; the tales of the honor and bravery of the Knights Templar on Crusade; Merlin the Magician; the 4 Musketeers (yes, there were 4); Robin Hood, Maid Marion and his Merry Men; the tales of Shakespeare and Scheherazade; Pirates sailing the seven seas; and of course the arts of Donatello, Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci? These are just a few of the costume themes that have sparked the interest and passion of many throughout the ages and continue to carry on through time.

We are featuring Adult Renaissance costumes fit for Royalty and Noblemen to wear to Royal Court. Whether you are a king, a prince, a duke, an earl, or a wealthy statesman we have high-quality, theater style Renaissance men’s costumes for you.

Men’s Renaissance Kings Costumes

Royal men’s costumes perfect to wear to Renaissance Faires, LARP events, RPG events, cosplay events, Halloween parties, parades or theater events. These costumes are not the cheesy, cheap, wear it once and toss it” type of costumes. They are well-made costumes which can be added to your costume wardrobe and worn to many different costume events.

King Henry VIII like all kings from the Renaissance era was a flamboyant dresser and covered himself in jewels. He wore heavy jeweled necklaces and his fingers were bedazzeled with jewels. With that being said, King Henry didn’t like wearing his crown and would only wear it when forced to for certain special occassions. He was most comfortable wearing a what is now called a Tudor cap or to be bare headed. Be sure to add the extra touch of lots of faux jewels to really pull-off the regal look of a Renassance king.

Adult Deluxe King Henry the VIII Costume

Deluxe King Henry the VIII Costume - DeluxeAdultCostumes.comDeluxe King Henry the VIII CostumeClick Here for Details

Feel like a King and rule the kingdom wearing this very affordablr 3-piece King Henry VIII costume. Included with this Royal set is a Tudor style hat, an extra-long paisley and velvet tunic, and a faux-fur lined coat with paned mutton sleeves trimmed with lace cuffs and accented with gold trim. It is available in men’s sizes small to 2X. You will need to purchase men’s white hosery or tights, shoes and a sword separately as they are NOT included.

Remember to add the right men’s costume jewelry to the outfit too. The Livery collar necklaces, also known as Chain of Office necklaces, I am featuring next are an amazing addition to any royal or noble’s costume. Men first began wearing Liver collars during the Middle Ages to flaunt their wealth and to show their loyalty status to another greater person above or equal to them in status. Liver collars were only presented to the most loyal and closest of associates. They were usually made of gold. The collar necklaces were also worn by English kings and princes. The French started the trend of adding jewels to the Livery necklaces.

The only reason I am adding these two Prince costumes is because of the jacket. I really didn’t like the costume very much as it is rather cheaply made, but the jacket is actually better looking than most of the off-the-rack Halloween costumes. The jackets alone are worth the money of the costumes. They are made of a gold polyester brocade with burgundy panne velvet paned mutton sleeves accented with gold and burgundy braid trim.

The pants and the boot covers are included, but I would toss them both. I recommend getting a better pair of Renaissance breeches, as these are pretty thin and a pair of real Renaissance boots. Getting a better pair of breeches and boots is an investment for those of us who love to go to cosplay events, Comic-Con, Ren Fest, Pirate Fest, and any other masquerade party you may be into. Real boots and breeches can be used over and over for many different genres and they give an air of authenticity to the costume.

What it boils down to is if you like the jacket, get the jacket. If you don’t like it, pass it by….. but don’t get it for the whole costume.

Men’s Renaissance Medieval Noble Lord Costume

Men's Renaissance Medieval Noble Lord Costume - DeluxeAdultCostumes.comMen’s Renaissance Medieval Noble Lord CostumeClick Here for DetailsRenaissance Medieval Nobleman Costume Plus Size - DeluxeAdultCostumes.comRenaissance Medieval Nobleman Costume Plus SizeClick Here for Details

The two Noble Lord costumes shown above are the same costume, but different sizes. I am featuring both costumes to make all sizes available for you. The costume on the above right is plus sizes and the link will take you to a page of sizes 2X-4X.

This Nobleman’s costume is not the greatest, but with a little additional work on your part it can become a pretty decent looking costume for a Renaissance Festival at a very affordable price. The first thing I’m not really fond of is the tunic and the shirt are not two separate pieces. The purple velvet faux fur trimmed tunic and the white shirt are attached together as one piece. You may want to add a ruffle collar for a more aristocratic look. The purple satin cape has one gold-tone chain included as a cape attachment, so you should add another chain or two. I would also add a few extra feathers to the hat for a little extra flair. After all, the Renaissance is known for the flamboyant, luxurious clothing worn by men at that time.

Also included are a pair of pants that you may want to replace with a better quality of Renaissance trousers or a pair of black men’s tights. I abhor vinyl boot covers. They look cheap and tacky so I recommend tossing them out and wearing a pair of real boots or a pair of period shoes.

Both of these men’s costumes are replicated after an Italian Renaissance man. At first glance, I thought these were the same outfits are they are very similar in style. They both have black and blue paned sleeves attached to tunics giving the illusion of doublets trimmed with gold braiding. Additionally, both of the hats are two-toned black and blue. Both outfits include lightweight black loose fitting pants which are also similar in appearance.

Here’s the difference: The paned sleeve tunic featured on the above left is made of a printed houndstooth design poly fabric with polyester inserts while the paned sleeve tunic on the above right is made from brushed cotton corduroy with poly suede cloth inserts. Both tunics haveslashed panes on the front in the same contrasting colors are accented with gold trim.

Men’s Renaissance Red Velvet 4-Pc Frock Coat Outfit Set

Men's Renaissance Red Velvet 4-Pc Frock Coat Outfit Set - DeluxeAdultCostumes.comMen’s Renaissance Red Velvet 4-Pc Frock Coat Outfit SetClick Here for Details

During the 1600s, men wore long button coats such as this red velvet coat along with lace trimmed long sleeve shirts and lace jabots underneath. These were worn with knee length breeches. This outfit, replicated from that time period, includes the red velvet coat, a long red velvet vest and trousers. Worn underneath is a white shirt trimmed with lace cuffs and a white lace jabot. The coat, vest and pants are trimmed with gold-tone buttons and gold brocade detailing.

Hats aren’t included with this costume, but one of these hats featured next will work perfectly for the look you want to achieve. The flat caps and the cavalier hat are worn from the Tudor era through the Stuart’s era. If you choose to wear a cavalier hat, I would add extra ostrich plumes to the hat band.

Shoes are not included with the red frock coat costume either, but I found a good selection of red velvet slip-on loafers with gold thread embroidery detailing. These shoes are very similar to the shoes worn at court by the noblemen. Anyone of them are perfect accessories for the red velvet frock coat.

Men’s Renaissance French Aristocrat
Nobleman Costumes

During the French Renaissance, and into the Reccoco period of the 1700s, the men’s clothing was still extremely opulent. The pansied trunk hose or round hose had gotten longer and were worn at the knees rather than the very short balloon styles of the earlier centuries.

Each one of these aristocrat pant sets included 4 pieces; a shirt, a jabot, pair of knee-length breeches, and a tailcoat. The costumes are not as elaborate as the outfits worn by the aristocrats during the reign of King Louis XIV during the 1600s, but they are fabulous for the low cost of each costume. Just plan on a little additional work to bring them up to a higher standard of elegance.

As an example, I recommend adding a full tiered lace jabot to replace the rather place white one which is included. I also recommend sewing lace flounce ruffles onto the cuff of the shirt sleeves. Elaborate braiding and ribbon could also be added to decorate the coat sleeves and the breeches.

Cavalier hats with large feathers and velvet shoes flaunting large bows were very popular accessories in both France and Spain during the 17th century.
