The magic of the Christmas season brings many delightful visions and dreams to the minds of children and you may need to help make those dreams come true by dressing as Santa. Additionally, you may need to wear a Santa Suit to an annual Christmas pageant or theater play, a charity event, or to surprise your own family’s little ones at the annual Christmas dinner. One of the places my saner half wears his Santa suit is on his Harley! He rides in the annual biker’s Toys for Tots event in our community.

You may need a Santa costume to help out the Salvation Army collecting donations during the Christmas season, or dishing out food at a homeless shelter, handing out gifts at a children’s hospital, or you may want to donate your time at a VA hospital. Any special functions you may want to participate in during the Christmas season by donating your time as Santa means you will need a Santa outfit and you can find everything you need here for the ultimate Santa Claus costume. We have found that by donating our time to worthwhile charities to be the most rewarding practice we could ever imagine.

Deluxe Professional Santa Suits

The first Santa Suit Costumes featured here are geared more toward the costumes needed for professional events. They are made of heavier fabrics and are made to withstand repeated everyday use.

One thing I recommend, regardless of the type of function you are participating in, it is always best to dry clean your Santa Suit when it becomes soiled. I do not recommend attempting to wash any of these costumes yourself in a washing machine, regardless of the care instructions. If you are a professional Santa I recommend having at least two basic suits so that when one suit is at the cleaners you have another to wear.

This costume is actually a twofer. Two great Santa looks for one excellent price. A top-of-the-line professional Santa Suit Outfit Bundle. Included is a high-quality burgundy velvet Santa Suit accented with luxurious, white faux fur long-hair plush trim and a pair of burgundy velvet overalls suitable to fit a men’s size 42-48. This Santa Claus Outfit Bundle is made by the famous Halco Company and includes a handy paper Santa Guide.

The outer jacket is a 3/4 length coat with extended sleeve faux fur cuffs, belt loops, and outside pockets. The coat is zippered for easy on/off dressing. Additionally, the suit has an adjustable pair of matching full-length rich burgundy velvet overall pants with 2 side pockets and a zipper fly. The overalls have decorative gold-tone buttons down the front.

Also included with this Santa bundle is a Santa Claus hat with white faux fur trim and a large white faux fur pompom; a Naugahyde belt with brass eyelets and a decorative cast buckle with prong and loop; Naugahyde boot tops with long-hair plush cuffs; and white nylon Santa Claus gloves.

Any of you who have bought costumes off this site before know how I abhor boot covers. IMHO boot covers cheapen the look of the costume. I recommend purchasing a pair of authentic-looking Santa boots if you plan on using this costume professionally. If you want to look like Santa, toss the boot covers and wear Santa boots. Children can be very precocious and boot covers are one of those things they will bring to your attention!

Additionally, my husband always preferred using a genuine leather hand-tooled Santa belt rather than a fake Naugahyde belt. Vegans may prefer to use a Naugahyde belt, however, they just don’t last more than a few seasons at the most! They crack and wear out too quickly by the belt holes. Then they have to be replaced. The buckles on the faux leather belt are too flimsy and bend easily.

The shirt, wig, beard, boots, and spectacles are NOT included but may be purchased separately below.

An exceptionally well-made, professional Santa Suit made in the USA by Tabi’s Character Costumes. Tabi’s Character’s costumes were all handmade in Los Angeles, CA near Hollywood, and are well known for their handsome, handmade costumes in the costume fashion industry. They have sold their company to Creative Costumes on the east coast which continue to make costumes to the same high-quality standards.

This Santa Suit is made for professional use. Included with the Tabi costume set is a high-quality luxurious red velvet coat with plush white trim and gold braiding accents. The gold braid accents all of the white plush trim down the front of the coat, on the coat sleeve cuffs, and around the bottom hem of the coat. It is also used for an ornate scroll design on the lower corners of the coat.

Additionally, matching red velvet trousers, and a red velvet hat with a large fluffy white pompom is also included with the costume.

Personally, I love the costume but do not like boot covers. In my humble opinion, they cheapen the look of the costume. I always throw out boot covers for all of our costumes and replace them with a pair of authentic Santa boots. In this case, I recommend replacing them with a pair of black Santa boots trimmed with white fur. You can get a pair separately below. Another thing I’m not really thrilled about is the black Naugahyde belt. I prefer a better-quality leather belt for a more “genuine” appeal.

The sizing on this Santa suit is quite generous to accommodate suit stuffers. The Santa wig, beard, and spectacles are not included but may be purchased separately below.

It is a well-made true red poly-velvet Santa costume coat trimmed with the classic white faux fur trim and a hidden front zipper. It features a pair of matching elastic waist poly-velvet pants with 2 side pockets, a wide black faux leather belt with a large gilded gold-tone metal buckle, a matching red velvet stocking cap trimmed with a faux fur hatband and a white fluffy pompom, a pair of black faux leather boot tops with white faux fur cuffs, an elastic under-shoe band, and a pair of white nylon gloves. I recommend replacing the boot stops with a pair of Santa costume boots trimmed with white faux fur.

The wig and beard are not included but may be purchased separately. I do recommend replacing the boot tops with Santa costume boots for a professional Santa.

The vendors are calling this plush deep red velour Santa costume a professional Santa suit. However, IMHO it is an adequate, good-quality Santa suit. It is a thick padded, fully lined, Santa suit costume. Fair warning: It does get hot! The quality is great for an outside venue, however, it will most likely be too hot for an indoor event. It might be alright for home use as long as you don’t have to wear it for a long length of time in a well-heated home.

Included with this Santa Suit are 8-pieces, almost a complete Santa costume. A thick deep red velour jacket comes trimmed with long white plush faux fur. The pants have an elastic waist and is made of the same matching deep red velour fabric as the jacket. The pants have 3 pockets; two side pockets and one back pocket. The pants are NOT trimmed with any white faux fur. The pant legs tuck into your boots.

A separate pair of Santa Boots trimmed with fur will need to be purchased. The costume does come with vinyl boot top covers but, if you have already read about my feelings on fake plastic boot top covers above (or on any of my other costume pages) you already know I replace all vinyl boot top covers with real leather boots. I recommend replacing this pair with at least a pair of fur-trimmed costume boots and throw out the plastic vinyl crap.

Anyway, back to this costume. Also included is a matching red Santa hat, trimmed with white faux fur, with a large white pompom; a metal buckle black belt; a pair of white nylon gloves with snap closures; a pair of suspenders; and a black garment bag. The wig and beard are NOT included, but I have included a few sets on this page for you to check out.

It is a fabulous costume with a lot of pieces for charity events, but IMHO, not as a working professional Santa costume.

We prefer to use cotton gloves, but the nylon gloves are just fine for a few hours, then they also become hot. The belt will need to be replaced after a few uses as it is not a sturdy leather belt. If you are thinking of wearing this costume just for a few hours once a year at Christmas time you will get more uses from the belt. If wearing it every day throughout the season, do yourself a favor and get a better belt.

Affordable Santa Suit Costumes

Generally, the thinner the fabric the less expensive the costume. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Thinner fabric costumes are much more comfortable in warmer, southern and tropical climates. Someone living in Arizona, Florida, Texas, Mexico, Hawaii, Guam, or Costa Rica might prefer not to wear a heavy velvet costume when the weather is 70 degrees or warmer! Keep in mind, however, that 100% polyester fabric is thinner and additionally does not breathe like cotton velvet fabrics.

Ded Moroz Father Frost Costumes

Ded Moroz or Father Frost and his female companion (his granddaughter Snegurochka) the Snow Maiden, are Russia’s counterparts to Santa Claus, however, there are a few differences.

Ded Moroz is said to bring presents to children starting in November because his birthday is 18 November, over 2000 years ago before the birth of Christ). However, he’s the most giving on New Year’s Eve as celebrating Christmas as a religious holiday was not allowed in the Soviet Union and Soviet Bloc countries. The Soviet Union outlawed the practice of all religious beliefs. Traditionally, New Year’s Eve is the night Ded Moroz and his granddaughter Snegurochka put presents under the fir tree (New Year’s Tree) for children to find the next morning. Ded Moroz and Snegurochka entered homes through the front door as they know everything about everyone and have keys to enter everyone’s homes. In the cold, harsh, dreary days of winter in the Soviet Union, they bought some color and fun to Russian families.

Ded Moroz is always portrayed to be much taller, manlier, and have a more slender figure than our round-bellied jovial Santa Claus. Instead of driving 8 reindeer on a magical flying sled, Ded Moroz employs three horses to drive his magical Russian troika.

You will have to pay a higher price for higher quality wig & beard sets, but it is worth it in the long run for professional Santas. Cheaper sets are just that. Cheap! The hair and beards are thin and falls out while not looking very good at all. Some cheap sets will only last for one or two wearings. You are better off paying more for premium-quality beard sets.

Santa and Mrs. Claus are centuries old and as such need their spectacles! Santa must be able to read his very long Naughty and Nice List Christmas Gift List. I have found a variety of top grain genuine leather Santa belts for you to choose from to complete your Santa costume. These are NOT cheap cardboard or vinyl belts. They are top-of-the-line high-quality black leather belts. You won’t find a finer selection of Santa leather belts anywhere else.

I have also included a few inexpensive faux leather belts for our vegan friends, however, usually these plastic belts will not last if looking for a belt for a professional Santa Claus costume.

And for our vegan friends, I am featuring two vegan vinyl belts. The gilded decorative cast metal belt buckle is festively embossed with a Christmas holly design. I am giving a fair warning for both belts. They are NOT genuine leather! Don’t expect them to last because they won’t. They may last for a few seasons but will not last as long as a leather belt. You may need to replace them after just a few seasons. They are, on the other hand, very affordable and will do your Santa outfit justice.
 

 

White Cotton Gloves for Santa Claus

My saner-half and I am not very fond of nylon gloves, but you might be. If you have nylon gloves included with your Santa outfit and you are happy with them, then by all means – keep them, and you won’t be needing these cotton gloves. However, if you’re like us and the nylon makes your hands sweaty and clammy, then you need cotton gloves. The cotton fabric lets your hands breathe and wicks away the perspiration. I found two pairs to feature below. One pair is long and will tuck nicely into the sleeves of the Santa Suit and the other pair is a regular short pair of white cotton gloves.

Boots are not usually included with Santa suits. If the costumes include anything it is usually vinyl boot top covers that you wear over your shoes. They are cheaply made and look just as cheap on. I recommend replacing the boot covers with a pair of Santa costume boots instead. I think it’s much more “genuine” to wear a pair of real black boots trimmed with white fur.
