I am featuring red hair, red queen wigs in several different styles to compliment the variety of Red Queen and Queen of Hearts costumes showcased on my Red Queen Costumes page and on our Sexy Queen of Hearts page.

Some people don’t realize that the Queen of Hearts and the Red Queen are two different characters from two different books and films.

The Queen of Hearts is from the first Lewis Carrol Alice in Wonderland book and film. She is actually nothing more than a cruel queen of hearts playing card. She is usually depicted with black hair and a very big mouth when she shouts, “Off With Their Heads!”

You can see her in the John Tenniel illustration, featured here on the right, from Lewis Carrol’s first book. Incidentally, John Tenniel was hired by Lewis Carrol’s as the first illustrator for his first book.

The majority of illustrations found the Alice in Wonderland books depicted the Queen of Hearts playing card with dark hair. It is up to you how you want your Queen of Hearts costume to look. It is perfectly fine to wear a red wig, a black wig, a blonde wig, or no wig at all. Have fun with your costume and costume accessories.
